Effectiveness of Art and Play Therapy in Promoting Self-Expression and Personality Development Among Children with Physical Disabilities

Abstract

Children with physical disabilities may experience difficulties in self-expression, communication, social interaction and confidence, affecting their overall personality development. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of art and play therapy in promoting self-expression and personality development among children with physical disabilities. Researcher use experimental design in this study. A structured art and play therapy programme involving drawing, painting, clay modelling, storytelling, role play and cooperative games was conducted for four weeks. Post-test findings showed improvement in self-expression and personality development scores. The study concluded that art and play therapy may be an effective supportive, child-centred intervention for psychosocial development.
